Angle-Saxish Kingdom and Commonwealth of Austenasia sign treaty

The Angle-Saxish Kingdom has today signed signed a historic Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation with the long-standing and respected micronation Austenasia. This moment comes in the midst of political turmoil after the former Emperor Aggelos scandalously and unconstitutionally called an election earlier this week. Elected prime minister Andrew Musgrave was subsequently derided by members of parliament and forced out of the chamber, later to proclaim a commonwealth.

His Majesty Johannes Karl issued the following statement:

Seeing that the Emperor of Austenasia has arbitrarily arrogated to himself, in contravention of constitutional practice, the power to call an election, and subsequently, opportunists have disgracefully attempted to discredit the prime minister, I in my capacity as chief magistrate of the Angle-Saxish Kingdom, will continue to recognize the lawful government of Lord Andrew Musgrave. I should like to remind H.I.M. Aggelos that the king is to be servant of the people and not of his own whims.

The commitment to recognize the Commonwealth of Austenasia as the sole lawful government has now been formalized. Despite years of informal interaction, this is the first time a formal treaty has been signed, and it will be seen by many as long overdue.
